What is Aura?
Aura is a text-to-speech reader. It reads your PDFs, EPUB books, web articles, text files and photos of printed pages aloud, with speech made on your phone.
Is Aura free?
Aura is free to download. Some features need Aura Pro. The app shows what is included and the price before you pay. The free version can show ads; Aura Pro has no ads.
Does Aura work on iPhone?
Aura is on Android now. The iPhone app is coming soon.
Does Aura work offline?
Yes, after setup. Download the speech model and a voice while you are online. Then Aura reads your documents with no connection.
Does Aura send my documents to a server?
No. Aura makes the speech on your phone. Your documents, their names, your reading position and the audio stay in the app’s private storage.
Which files can Aura read?
PDFs with real text, EPUB books, DOCX and TXT files, pasted text, web links, Wikipedia pages and photos of printed pages.
Can Aura read scanned PDFs?
Not as a file. A scanned PDF is a picture of text. Take a photo of the page instead, and Aura finds the text and reads it.
How many voices and languages are there?
There are 38 voices, and each one speaks 31 languages. You can hear a preview before you download a voice.
Can I listen with the screen off?
Yes. Lock your phone and Aura keeps reading, with controls on the lock screen.
Does Aura remember where I stopped?
Yes. Aura saves your place in each document and starts from the same sentence next time.
Can I save the audio?
Yes. Aura can save a narration as an M4A file that you can play in any audio player.
Does Aura highlight each word?
Aura highlights one sentence at a time, the sentence it is reading.
