Your words stay home.
Contracts, medical letters, diaries, work files. Some text is private. Aura reads it aloud without sending it to a cloud speech service.
What “on-device” means
Most text-to-speech apps send your text to a server. The server makes the audio and sends it back. Aura does this work on your phone. A speech model runs inside the app and turns the text into sound.
What stays on your phone
- The text of your documents
- The names of your files
- Your place in each document
- The audio that Aura makes
Aura keeps these in its private app storage. On Android, they are not part of cloud backup or device transfer. When you delete a document or the app, they are removed.
When Aura uses the internet
We want to be clear about this. Aura uses the internet to:
- download the speech model, voices and optional language packs,
- fetch a web page when you import a link,
- handle purchases, and
- show ads in the free version. Aura does not give ad services your documents or what you listen to.
